In 2018, Ali was joined by Mike to help grow the organisation & support with venues & bookings, bringing the total fundraising to £2800 by the end of 2019. Despite lockdown in 2020, PhilanthroPunks activities continued, raising money through online streamed gigs & sales from shirts in order to ensure the charity was supported during this difficult period.
PhilanthroPunks was started in 2017 by Ali as a way to raise funds in aid of a non-goverment funded homeless charity - Glass Door. The first year of PhilanthroPunks raised £732 through punk gigs in London featuring bands such as Scrotum Clamp and The Resuscitators .
Now we want to be really ambitious.
The PhilanthroPunks Team has grown again with Katie joining to support with fundraising and Helen coming on board to tackle the growing ambition of the PhilanthroPunks. With a full team in place, we’re raising money in 2024 for Hackney Night Shelter Hackney Night Shelter | Home (hackneydoorways.org.uk)
We are aiming to raise upwards of £7000 this year alone to make it our best year yet.
